Alphabet Lessons
Touching the Alphabet
Reading/Alphabet Make a collection of tactile objects for the various letters of the alphabet. Use cotton balls for "c," denim for "d," a brick for "b," etc. Students will experience the tactile relationship as well as the letter/symbol relationship.
Alphabet Organizer
In using the Alphabet Organizer students have the option to enter one word, more than one word, or a word and related notes for each letter of the alphabet. Elementary students can use the tool to create an alphabet book with words for each letter of the alphabet. This interactive tool enables students to print an alphabet chart or pages for an alphabet book.
Which Letter?
Reading Provide students with letters cut from sandpaper. Have students work in pairs. Blindfold one student and have the other student give a letter to the blindfolded one to feel and guess its identity. Award one point for each correct identification. Then have the partners switch places.
