Class Book Project
Writing/Reading Have each student create a "Mythical Monsters". Include drawings of their mythical creature and a story about each which can be made into a classroom book that can be used during story time.

The Legend of Nessie
Students can read Loch Ness monster stories as a class. The site also includes a list of sightings, film evidence, sketches and other info about this mysterious reptile. After researching the Loch Ness monster ask students whether or not they think the stories are true or false?

Lake Monsters of North America
Have your students research other Loch Ness-type sea monsters then ask your students to calculate how far they are from some of these locations. Do they think any of these creatures could survive in a local lake, etc.? Why?

Yeti: Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas
Introduce your class to the Yeti or Abominable Snowman. Encourage your students to carefully weigh the evidence and determine if they think he is a legend or a real creature.

Bigfoot Proof Not a Frozen Gorilla Costume – Real Evidence
View the film footage of Bigfoot also known as Sasquatch, then read these books to your class The Search for Bigfoot by Peter Byrne (Simon & Schuster, 1998) or Sasquatch: Wild Man of the Woods by Elaine Landau (Millbrook Press, 1993). Ask students if they think the creature is real or a hoax?
