Let's Get Physically Fit Together
Stretching Stations
Physical Education Set up one learning station with illustrated cards for specific stretching exercises such as: a butterfly, seated L, straddle, etc. Have students select three cards for the session. On each card, suggest how many exercises to do and/or provide a quiet egg timer to tell students how long to spend at the station.
Ball/Barrel Attack
This lesson provides students with ways to improve their ball throwing skills, helps them build cooperative teamwork skills and game-strategy skills, and finally it gives them an excellent workout!
Marathon Challenge
Students will be able to measure pulse rate and investigate the affect of exercise on pulse rate. They will also construct and interpret a graph displaying recovery time.
Fitness Games
We know children need to learn about health and fitness. These games will encourage children to get off the computer and into activity. The games are divided into three categories: healthy lifestyles, nutrition and games that encourage activity.
