You can celebrate Pancake Day in your classroom, or celebrate the love of pancakes at any time with these pancake-related activities. Most of these activities are just for fun, however, there are a few educational principles that these activities can also help with.
Chemical Reactions and Pancakes
In this lesson, students will hear a story about the ingredients that go into pancakes called, "Pancakes, Pancakes!" by Eric Carle. After that, discuss preference of light and fluffy vs. flat and rubbery pancakes. Students can compare ingredients in two different pancake recipes, then taste the difference. Then you can also talk about the chemical reaction that happens when the recipes are mixed and why there are bubbles in the pancakes.
