Hearts and Flowers
Motor Skills/Coordination This crafty activity teaches symmetry as well as strengthens fine motor coordination. Set out scissors and various colors of construction paper. Create a few basic hearts and flowers by folding the paper in half and cutting along the fold. Increase the challenge by creating more intricate designs like snowflakes and paper-doll chains.

Insect Symmetry
Students explore symmetry in the insect world, comparing and contrasting insects and their symmetrical bodies and wings. Have students draw symmetrical insects, identifying body parts and demonstrating understanding of symmetry, then go home and find objects around their homes which are symmetrical.

Foamy Speller
Spelling This activity will help to review spelling words with lots of fun. Spray some shaving cream or whipped cream on a small area of the counter. Say the word that your child is to write in the foam. Take turns!

Take Home the Bear
This activity is great for getting parents involved with their child's school and to help the children learn how to keep a journal.

Parents Activity
Math Reinforce important classification and grouping skills at home while developing your child's independence by having your child sort dirty laundry. Then put your child in charge of delivering and putting away the family's clean laundry.

Down the Drain
In this activity, ask your students to keep track of how many times they use water daily. Then they can try to figure out ways to conserve it.
